Bold Blooms
We continue to have record heat and drought. In my garden I am observing those flowers that boldly continue to grow despite the difficult conditions. I continue to water and weed. Weeds seemingly can grow and multiply regardless of the conditions.
This amazing dahlia was given to me as a gift earlier this year. It is very large and hardy.
The monarda is doing quite nicely - attracting butterflies and hummingbirds.
The daylilies - especially the orange ones seem to be growing everywhere - I even see them growing in the ditches along the roadways. They bring charm and cheer to my parched garden.
Each year I have several marigold volunteers which grow to be quite large and beautiful.
The abelia was here when we moved in - it is a favorite of the bees. I love its graceful limbs and flowers.
This butterfly bush is called Biltmore
I am thankful that despite the harsh conditions that these blooms are bold and strong enough to give their best in my garden.
I am sharing this post with these Delightsome garden parties:

I popped over from MsGreen Thumb Jean's, and I love all your beautiful flowers, esp the monarda (a new one for me).
ReplyDeleteYour garden flowers are doing well in your drought. We are also having cool, wet and windy weather in the Maritimes, Canada. We were in shorts and tees last week and jeans and sweatshirts this week! My flowers are doing well but I hope they don't get moldy. Pamela
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos of some of your flowers. You do have green thumbs!
ReplyDeleteIt is always a pleasure to visit your blog, Kathy! Your flowers are beautiful! I wish we could send some of our rain your way ..we've had plenty this spring!
ReplyDeleteSeems every area is having some problems this spring. Your blooms look good for surviving a drought. Jean
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is gorgeous in spite of the heat and drought. You have such pretty colors to enjoy and your captured them perfectly.
We are having very hot weather here to and today reached 102 I believe. I am watering like crazy to not lose my pretty blooms. We sure need rain soon.

How beautiful it all is but I truly love the dahlias. They are a magnificent flower.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful blooms! I wish I had some volunteer marigolds that big!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden you have! I have a glossy abelia in my garden as well, and I love it, as do the hummingbirds. Your garden is much further along than mine, due to our very cold and rainy conditions, but surely it will get warmer soon--I hope!

Dear Kathy,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you still have so many blooms in spite of the heat! May the rains come quickly.
Love,
Marqueta
Our days are cooler around here and the spring has been later... so our spring blossoms are still unfurling on some trees. This morning I posted the lovely pink sprigs from our toba hawthorn tree.
ReplyDeleteYou have some really beautiful blooms, dear lady. I especially love the dahlias, they are one of my favorite flowers.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
I just love your orange daylilies and abelia. Such beautiful photos!
