Creating Your Summer
Bliss
In the 1999 and the 2000 issues of Victoria magazine
a 'Bliss Team' was created -
Tricia Foley, Leslie George, Nancy Lindemeyer, Susan Maher and Robin Reiser.
"Be Happy. It's one way of being wise"
~Collette
Planning Your Bliss
First up in the morning...
"Put aside a pretty cup
Some Irish Breakfast tea
Buy a dozen oranges
Find the juicer at the top of the closet
And something juicy to read
Start with a stretch
Add peppermint shampoo with a hint of tangerine
Then you'll need a linen robe
Comfy slippers
A favorite blanket
A place to put up your feet
The morning is yours
to take a walk
to take up needlepoint
to take on nothing at all"
These Delightsome Ladies created their
B list
White linen shadow striped robe
natural raffia slippers
Botanica tea with seven herbs
White perfect-to-hold cup
Grass-scented laundry fragrance
Classic woodframe screen door.
Encouraging beauty
The Bliss team encouraged us to find items
that would inspire us to be good to ourselves.
Freshly scented products, soft textures
and a clear, bright summer afternoon
to wile away the hours in.
The Perfect Thing
SUMMER STRAW
"Hovering just above our thoughts, hats are all about dreams."
Give the gift of Bliss
Set aside time to do those tasks
for yourself or for others that you've
been meaning to do.
Bliss Invitation
Invite your truest friends to lunch amongh
the trees
offer a lovely, simple summer lunch
and
b.y.o.b
(bring your own breeze)
Name your own Bliss
"standing in the doorway, waiting on a sudden downpour"
"forgetting the time"
"A long train ride"
"The sound of flip-flops"
"A suitcase with five things in it"
"Drying your hair in the wind"
"Writing your name in the sand"
These are some of the suggestions
sent to Victoria magazine in the 1999
issue.
How would you name your
Bliss?

I have always loved Victoria magazine, especially in it's early years. I just bought a new straw hat this summer, used it once so far. Thanks for the bliss. :D

Lovely post, Kathy! My bliss is to sink my toes into the warm sand at our beaches, with my sweetie by my side, of course! I so enjoyed your post today. Thanks for hosting and enjoy your evening.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
What a 'blissful' surprise. I was just stopping by to say hey - and enjoyed the moments of bliss - boy do I like those straw hats on that white lounge chair . . . Neat event to host. Perhaps I'll have to think about doing this once-in-a-while? Thanks, Jenn
ReplyDeleteJust blissful. Richard at My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kathy,
ReplyDeleteMy bliss is a lukewarm shower on a hot summer day in the luxury of our modern lives; compared to so many on this earth... We've worked all over the world so we know.
Slipping into a fresh made bed with the all cotton duvet cover and fitted sheet, a light-weight goose duvet in cotton batist inside... Makes for contentment and happy dreams!
Lots of love,
Mariette
Once again, Kathy, you bless me with a little bliss with so many lovelies to look at and dream about. Even though I have little time to linger this week, I am happy to know there's a place to sneak away to when the busy tries to steal my bliss. Got plenty of that happening these next two weeks - but will seek respite with tea and posts! Doing all things in Him!
ReplyDeleteJoy!

Kathy, this is such a 'delightful' post! I really do like the idea of planning a day of bliss. I'm totally inspired!! Wow--I need this. There's been to much plain old hard work and not enough celebration. I think I need to PLAN for a day of bliss...soon.

How do you know so much about Victoria magazine?
ReplyDeleteSo lovely all those hats. I love a big sun hat.
I like cane furniture and specially when they are so well displayed in a garden. They look very different and just like each ambiance has to be created differently.
