Rescue
the lonely pieces
I would just love to have complete sets of some of the china pieces I own.
The artistry in the patterns and shape are just wonderful.
I will, however, pick up a beautiful, lonely piece simply for its beauty.
Whether it is a teacup, saucer, creamer, lidless sugar bowl, plate or bowl, I am always willing to provide a home for orphaned pieces.
Together, I think they make a lovely family.

ReplyDeleteLove your pretty china lovlies!
GORGEOUS! I also offer myself up for the task of providing a home for orphan china!
ReplyDeleteStunning pieces each one and they go together so nicely, like real good friends, lol. I like orphan dishes as I must have some too. The flowers in all of them are gorgeous. Thank you sweet lady for your kind and lovely visit to my daughter's new home.

You do have some very pretty orphans. Especially the tea-cups. Deb
ReplyDeleteYou have some really beautiful orphaned pieces. I love all the pink roses. They look like they go together, even if they are not the same pattern. I have several "one of" pieces in blue and white too, and because they are the same color they work together nicely.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I'm the same way! And all together, they do make a wonderful "set of dishes!"
ReplyDeleteLike a cottage garden, not everything matches; altogether, beauty is created.
ReplyDeleteThat's mostly what I have...one of a kind pieces! heehee! But I love them all! Beautiful display my friend! ♥
ReplyDeleteA fellow dish rescuer!! I think that is one reason I started selling in a little booth for all the dish rescuing I do! I just cannot pass up a pretty dish! Well, let me rephrase that- I just cannot pass up a pretty dish that has a tiny price attached to it!

They are all lovely in their own way, but together they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat eye candy! All these lovely dishes look beautiful together. Such a wonderful vignette.
ReplyDeleteI tend to gather a lonely piece here and there myself. If it's pretty (and cheap!), I just can't leave it behind.
Oh Kathy, I'm the same way. In your 3rd photo down there is a square serving plate in the center and I have the same one! It was my mother's and I just love it. It's fun to have a mismatched collection. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI think all of us collectors have tons of mismatched items like these and they are so beautiful all gathered together,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and for your nice comments.

I enjoyed this post. I can so relate to this because I am always rescuing pieces. I have many of these same pieces! Now I must go rescue that little creamer at my local consignment store that I feel at peace about purchasing now!
ReplyDeletehow much do I love your china collection?!! The pieces are all so beautiful and they complement each other perfectly. Matching sets are so overrated!
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteYou are like the dish fairy giving a home to wayward dishes. How beautiful. My favourite is the dish in the middle with the bouquet of roses. Have a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, what wonderful dishes these are.
ReplyDeleteI like them very much. Iam also a collector of those vintage dishes, but I stopped collecting now, because I dont have a spare place for them anymore. I will make a post of them soon, too.

ReplyDeleteThe word "orphan" came to mind as I was reading your post...and then you used it! LOL! I think orphaned pieces need even more love & company then full family sets! They may be the last of their kind!
ReplyDeleteKathy ~
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I am always more than happy to provide an exquisite orphaned piece a home. It isn't important that it be a part of a matching set. I see our role as rescuers of beautiful pieces, to accentuate their unique beauty, and proudly display and use them.
Fabulous - I also rescure beautiful china & have some rather eclectic collections .... Just discovered your blog & love it!
